President Boakai signs port decentralization bill into law
Liberia's President has signed legislation decentralising port governance — a structural shift with long-term implications for how the country's ports are managed and developed.

MONROVIA, Liberia — President Joseph Boakai has signed into law a bill decentralising the governance of Liberia's ports, a significant structural reform of the sector's oversight model.
The legislation reshapes how ports outside Monrovia are administered and is expected to influence investment, management structures and development sequencing across the national port system in the years ahead. The signing follows extended public debate about the balance between decentralisation and maritime security.
As Liberia's first indigenous terminal operating company, Ducor Terminals follows these policy developments closely. Clear, stable and investment-friendly port governance is essential to the modern terminals and inland container depots we are building for Liberia's trade future.
